Dear Colleagues,

The Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CR) is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher who should join Robotics and machine perception group for a CR-funded project which is called CRoW (Collaborative Robotic Workspace of the Future). This project is led by Czech industrial company Factorio, a.s. and is focused on human-robot collaboration in an industrial assembly task. It combines visual processing (object recognition and tracking), robotics control, language processing, scene understanding, and knowledge base generation.

Closing Date: Tuesday 4 June 2019

Salary: 600 000 CZK per annum (approx. 24 000 €)

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated postdoctoral Researcher with relevant experience and keen interest in at least one of the following areas (1) human-robot interaction, (2) machine learning (focus on neural networks), (3) robot control, (4) machine vision, (5) language processing, (6) expert systems.

Applicants should have, or expect to soon obtain, a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area. You must have excellent mathematical and programming skills (Python/C++, ROS, OpenCV). Experience with KUKA iiwa robots and language processing is a strong plus. The position offers an excellent opportunity for collaboration within an institute, cooperation with industrial partners (Siemens, Skoda auto, Continental, LEGO, etc.), working with state-of-the-art robotic hardware (KUKA iiwa, Panda Franka Emika, optitrack, etc.) and software and support in publication of achieved results in the leading international conferences and journals.

The position will be a fixed term for 30 months till the end of the project (12/2021) with opportunities for ongoing career development and progression.

Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics (https://www.ciirc.cvut.cz/) is a university institute of the Czech Technical university, the oldest university in Czech republic. CIIRC CTU was founded on July 1, 2013 and in 2017 it moved to a new building. One of the main objectives of the CIIRC is to integrate information and cybernetic research and education at the CTU, building on the links to the out-of-city centers as well as on strong links with international research centers. CIIRC CTU now recruits around 150 full time equivalent positions for researchers and is gradually growing.

CIIRC CTU (in cooperation with VUT-CEITEC, DFKI and ZeMA) won in 2019 the European project RICAIP - The European Center of Excellence for Industrial Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The CIIRC creates research and pedagogical workplace in scientific atmosphere, pleasant conditions for work and, in a number of areas, brings results at the world’s top research level. The CIIRC CTU became the center of support for industry 4.0 and the headquarters of the National Center for Industry 4.0. Within this center, the first extensive Testbed for Industry 4.0 is being developed primarily for the advanced development and transfer of technologies and solutions for Czech small and medium-sized companies.

The institute is located directly in the centre of Prague within walking distance from old castle and other historical places. Prague is the capital city of Czech republic with around 1,3 millions inhabitants and rich history. Prague has been a political, cultural and economic centre of central Europe and was in 2016 ranked sixth in Tripadvisor as the best world destinations. Nevertheless, regular life in Prague and Czech republic is cheaper than in western Europe.

Best regards,

Karla Stepanova
