The Twitter account @EUCogNetwork is already up and running

We would like to ask you to follow us, share information and engage in conversations. We can use the hash-tag #CogSys which is not very popular at the moment, and start positioning Cognitive Systems research agenda and solutions. Together we can improve the internet presence of Cognitive Systems.

We are building a Twitter list of EUCog Members so it’s easier to keep organized. Maybe you can help us find colleagues whose accounts we haven’t reached yet.

Jobs and Events posted in this site by EUCog members will be automatically tweeted through @EUCogNetwork. But Twitter can also be of use to share articles, media appearances, announcements or conference-related tweeting,… If you are not on twitter here’s a good Introduction to Social Media for Scientists published on PLOS Biology and open access:

Online social media tools can be some of the most rewarding and informative resources for scientists—IF you know how to use them…The online world can broaden a scientist’s impact in the research world. Tweeting from conferences (discussing cutting-edge research developments, linking to journal articles or lab websites, e.g., http://bit.ly/11CGRGL) can introduce other scientists to valuable content, and consequently provide networking opportunities for users who actively post during meetings.”

There are some active twitter users in the network already, Nick Hawes, Joanna Bryson, Alan Winfield and Tarek R. Besold are among them. Come join the conversation.

Our aim is to grow as a community for better research in the Artificial Cognitive Systems field. Tools like this blog and the @EUCogNetwork can help us achieve that.

Are you active on other social networks? Do you have any ideas of how to best use these tools for our purpose? Get in contact with us or leave a comment.
